We have been running outdoor parent & toddler groups since early 2014. It all started with a dream to provide play meet ups for children and their parents, not in a village hall but in the great outdoors, making the most of the learning opportunities and benefits that nature offers. We found the perfect spot at the wonderful National Trust Ebworth Centre, and all developed from there.
Today we offer three weekly groups:
- Monday: Little Explorers Toddler Forest School at Hailey Wood near Cirencester
- Tuesday: Rococo Garden Sprites in Painswick (under Nature Connections)
- Thursday: Little Owls Toddler Forest School at the National Trust Ebworth Centre near Birdlip (under Nature Connections)
All of them give parents/carers and their children the opportunity to meet, explore and play in the great outdoors.
Our groups are suitable for children between 18 months and 4 years; younger siblings are very welcome, too (we recommend slings but all our sites are suitable for off road buggies).
The sessions are a mixture of guided activities and free play for which we have a range of resources on hand to spark the children’s imagination. Over the course of the term we do mud play, walks, stories, wild art, bug hunting, campfire cooking, simple woodwork and generally having a lovely, relaxing time surrounded by nature – good for body and soul, for children and grown ups alike.
